The Ministry of Railways has announced a new weekly express train between Tirupati and Chikkamagaluru. The date of the inaugural train will be announced later.

Vivek Kumar Sinha, Joint Director (Coaching) of the Railway Board, issued an order on June 27, announcing the train. The train 17423/17424 will start at Tirupati on Thursdays and at Chikkamagaluru on Fridays.

The stoppages are Pakkala, Chittoor, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Kuppam, Bangarapet, Whitefield, Krishnaraja Puram, SMVB Bengaluru, Chikka Banavara, Tumakuru, Tiptur, Arasikere, Devanur, Biruru, Kadur, Bisalehalli and Sakharayapatna.

Kota Shrinivas Poojari, Lok Sabha member of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, has expressed happiness over the announcement of the new train. On his social media platforms, the MP said that to connect Chikkamagaluru and Tirupati via Bengaluru by train was one of his dreams. His dream had been fulfilled with the support of Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Initially, he said, the train would operate weekly and in future it would be operated thrice a week. “The express train to Tirupati has been the long-pending dream of the people of Chikkamagaluru. I wish the people of Chikkamagaluru make better use of the facility,” he added.
