The Federation of Film Societies of India’s Kerala regional council has demanded that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) withdraw its decision to deny certification to the film JSK – Janaki Vs State of Kerala, starring Union Minister Suresh Gopi, over the title name ‘Janaki’. The FFSI noted that it is condemnable to insist that the character’s caste, religion and name be changed if it does not align with the Sangh Parivar’s politics. It is necessary to strongly oppose the fact that government agencies working under the Constitution are starting to act according to the narrow politics imposed on them, said the FFSI statement.
