DMK and allies are conspiring to cause trouble within PMK, alleges Anbumani

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday reaffirmed his belief that DMK and its allies were conspiring to cause trouble within the PMK after VCK founder Thol. Thirumavalavan, VCK general secretary D. Ravikumar, and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai showered praise on PMK founder S. Ramadoss.

Speaking at a meeting of the party’s social media wing, Dr. Anbumani asked why Mr. Thirumavalavan had expressed love towards Dr. Ramadoss all of a sudden. “When did Thirumavalavan last praise PMK founder Dr. Ramadoss? Why is he praising him now? What is the reason for TNCC president Selvaperunthagai’s love for Dr. Ramadoss? Why is he meeting him all of a sudden? DMK is conspiring…we have to think about all this,” he said.

Dr. Anbumani further refuted his father’s claim that the latter had not been aware that a BJP delegation had come to finalise the alliance with the BJP before the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He alleged that Dr. Ramadoss was well-aware and in fact, he had asked him to speak to the BJP.

“When C.Ve. Shanmugam had come to Thailapuram, I had asked why he had come. He told me he had come to invite my father for an event. If Dr. Ramadoss had told me that he wanted an alliance with the AIADMK, why would I have said no to it? It is only after Dr. Ramadoss consented to the BJP alliance…that BJP leaders came to Thailapuram and food was served to them,” Dr. Anbumani said.

Dr. Anbumani added that while Dr. Ramadoss’ old age had affected his abilities, he said that 99% of the party’s office-bearers were with him. “The party’s bylaws state that the general body meeting should be held based on his guidance. But, he is not the one with all the powers. Party’s president, general secretary, and treasurer only have the power to call for a general body meeting,” he said.

‘Deeply troubled’

While urging his party cadre not to criticise Dr. Ramadoss, Dr. Anbumani, however, himself raised doubts over his father’s ability to think clearly. “I am deeply affected and stressed by what is happening within the party. I am unable to sleep. Will anyone in their right minds speak about his own son and daughter-in-law during a live telecast?” he said.
