The Thanjavur District Railway Users’ Association has exhorted the Southern Railway to revive the Tambaram-Podanur / Coimbatore-Tambaram Weekly Special Express train (06184/06185) to connect Delta districts with Palani, Pollachi, and Kinathukadavu region.
In a letter to Southern Railway General Manger, association secretary A. Giri said this train had evoked good response from passengers with a high level of occupancy benefitting passengers of all intermediate stations. But non-extension of its service beyond June 8 has caused much disappointment to the passengers.
In case the railways faced any constraints in operating the train from Tambaram because of ongoing work at Chennai Egmore, it may be either operated with rake maintenance in Coimbatore or between Chengalpattu and Podanur Junction / Coimbatore, Mr. Giri added.
