Naidu vows stern action against crime; Pawan warns against using film dialogues to incite violence

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asserted that his government would deal firmly with criminal activities, including the rising menace of ganja cultivation and crimes against women.

Recalling the legacy of effective policing under previous TDP regimes, Mr. Naidu said, “The police once fought terrorists, suppressed factionism in Rayalaseema, controlled rowdyism, and upheld secularism by curbing communal violence. Now, some individuals are indulging in ganja cultivation, which will be suppressed with an iron hand.”

Reacting strongly to recent incidents of sexual assault on girls and women, the Chief Minister warned that such crimes would not be tolerated. “Criminals will face severe punishments. Those attempting to commit crimes under the guise of political influence will not escape the law,” he stated.

In a related development, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan condemned the use of provocative slogans and placards inspired by controversial film dialogues. Referring to recent comments by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding a controversial film dialogue, Mr. Kalyan said, “If violators come onto the streets brandishing placards that promote violence or killing, they will face serious consequences.”

“We are not here to tolerate your atrocities. Film dialogues may work in movies, but not in real life. This NDA government under the leadership of Mr. Naidu is responsible, not inefficient. If you resort to crimes, this government will punish you seriously,” Mr. Kalyan added, emphasising that law and order would be strictly enforced across the State.
